Interesting question, Terry.

My reaction is...what could I possibly teach them. I wouldn't want them to change a thing about their work. There are plenty of "iffy" artists from the past too, but I'm afraid they wouldn't listen to anything I had to say.

I'd just love to follow them around and watch them paint, like a WAS-H demo.

Miss you.

Okay, maybe Maria Martinez should not be on the top ten list. Here is a link to information about her. She was a very important Native American artist.

What a wonderful exercise! How you could choose ten amazes me! :-)
I agree with Dawn above. I've never even heard of Maria Martinez. But you can bet I'll be researching her.
I'm one of those homeschooling moms who is learning right alongside her child. It's so fun to have an excuse to spend so much time on subjects that I'd otherwise surely not study. At any rate, I admit that I don't know a whole lot about art history. So my list of ten would be limited by the little that I know. But here goes!

Michelangelo
DaVinci
Rembrandt
VanGogh
Monet
Cassatt
Picasso
Jacob Lawrence
Winslow Homer
Norman Rockwell

I'd love to hear your thoughts on famous artists in homeschool. Please share with us homeschooling moms! (I've recently subscribed to your blog.)

I have never heard of Maria Martinez.

This is my list:

Michelangelo
Van Gogh
Diego Velazquez
Pablo Picasso
Frida Kahlo
Claude Monet
Georgia O'Keefe
Charles M. Russell
Leonardo Da Vinci
Katsushika Hokusai

I, too, found it hard to limit my number to ten. However, I feel that I have compiled a diverse group of artists in which to study.
